I recently read about many American presidents. My favorite president is Abraham Lincoln. He was born in February 1809.
Lincoln was from Illinois. When he was growing up, he was interested in learning but did not had money to buy books so he borrowed books from anyone he could. He worked as a shopkeeper and attorney before he became a president. We honor Lincoln for ending the slavery. We also honor him because he brought all the states together after the civil war. Lincoln's sculpture is on Mount Rushmore and he is also on penny.
