The Chinook Indians lived on what is now Colombia river which splits Oregon and Washington. They made their houses near water so that they could get salmon .Their houses were 120ft wide and 120ft long. The Chinook Indians were known for salmon and canoes.Their canoes were long so they could fit 15-17 people. They traded and used jewelry for respect. They had pottlachs which is a magnificent and planned party.A pottlach can take a year or more to be planned.People had pottlachs to gain respect also. These were called dignity pottlachs. The men hunted and the women gathered fruit and veggies and cooked. Wapoto bulbs were the most common veggie that they used. They even traded wapoto bulbs!Their clothing was made out of  wood. Their land was covered with trees
When the white came they had to give their land to the white .The white gave them the worst of their land though. They caught diseases like Malaria and Smallpox.Today the last Native Americans are like us.They do jobs like us and go to school like us and wear cloths like us.Bye!
